Another $6,000 Foundation grant check was delivered on October 20th to Fit Kids, a non-profit in Redwood City.
Fit Kids promotes health education for young and disadvantaged children by coordinating after-school fitness curriculums for kids that would not otherwise have access to them. Every twelve week after-school program works with up to 25 children in grades K-2, meets twice a week, and is led by three trained coaches. The programs keep things fun while focusing on specific aspects of physical health, nutrition, and mental health, giving kids a well-balanced health experience.
Founded in 2011, Fit Kids has since served nearly 1,000 children in various local communities. The $6,000 donated by the Intero Foundation will be used to support two new programs (and up to 50 children) at the KIPP School in Redwood City.
Thanks to Fit Kids, our Bay Area youth now have better access to health education, as well as motivation to stay healthy. We can confidently say that this is money well spent!
